Alstroemeria peruvian lilly flowersAlstroemeria, also known as Peruvian Lily, bears resemblance to a miniature lily. In 1753 Baron Claus von Alstomer, a Swedish baron, discovered the flower while collecting seeds on a trip to Spain. The Alstroemeria flower was named after him. This long lasting flower grows in a number of different colours – white, yellow, red, hot pink, light pink, orange and purple. This popular flower symbolises devotion and friendship. Its leaves grow upside, twisting out from the stem as it grows – much like the twists, turns and growth of our friendships! Alstroemeria is also a symbol of wealth, fortune and prosperity. If well taken care of, Alstroemeria can be very, very long lasting!
